MANGROVE HOUSE

LOCATION : 1230 S VENETIAN WAY MIAMI BEACH, FL 33139
SCALE: RESIDENTIAL
STATUS: CONCEPT

The task was to design a luxury home that would also serve as an advocate for protecting and enhancing Biscayne Bay. The house would feature a boat slip that enters the site, doubling the waterfront perimeter.

The seawall would be constructed as a series of terraces planted with mangroves. To minimize onsite construction, the living spaces would be prefabricated using steel and wood trusses and installed on-site, spanning from an oolite tower on a micro beach (left) to the garage and utility berm set in a Pine Rockland Garden.

Inspiration was drawn from the Paul Rudolph Finney residence and the Craig Ellwood Weekend house, with credit to Jens Suhr Anderson for the main house image used in this collage.
